Gomez had a shortened season after sustaining an ankle injury on international duty against the Netherlands in March.  

But, after having successful ankle surgery in May, the defender is on the road to recovery.

Footage has now surfaced of the 21-year-old working hard at Liverpool’s training centre, Selwood.

And it is his pacey moves which have got Reds supporters excited.

Gomez begins by taking a jog backwards before making a blistering sprint down the line. 

Under instructions from the coach, who is also filming, he makes a quirk dart inside for the penalty box.

The video comes to an end as the defender sprints to the halfway line, brushing the injury woes aside.

And Liverpool fans on Reddit were quick to praise the youngster. 

“Absolutely rapid is Big Joe,” one supporter wrote. 

Another commented: “He is fast as hell.”

And a third added: “Think it was against Sevilla at home or Man City where his sprint against a winger reminded me that he's rapid.”
